Oldalahäst identity
Oldalahäst by Kerstin P. is a reinterpretation of the famous Swedish symbol, Dalahästen.
Unique pieces made in Sweden, customized in France.
Kerstin P. is a Franco-Swedish artist who draws her inspiration from her legacy, double culture, emotions and dreams.
She proposes a very personal and original reinterpretation of a famous Swedish symbol: the Dalahäst (The Dalecarlian horse).
She has named this original creation 'the Oldalahäst' after her maternal grandparents and very especially in tribute to her grandfather who to seduce his dearest (very keen on originality) invented his own surname and gave it to her as a wedding gift.
Kerstin customizes these wooden horses made of pine (furu) and produced by craftsmen in Nusnäs Sweden by carving and sanding some of them and by tinting and dressing all of them in deluxe wool produced in Sweden (Ölands ull). She weaves colored threads around the horses' legs as if she was knitting them socks.
Each Oldalahäst is a unique piece filled with wholehearted passion combining both tradition and modernity with handicraft and design.
