Fer à Cheval is the oldest soap factory in Marseille, founded in 1856 and still in operation.
With more than 160 years of existence, Savonnerie Fer à Cheval continues the method of making and saponifying Marseille soap in a cauldron according to the real "Marseillaise" method.
It was in the 19th century, in Marseille, that hundreds of small factories made soap, the flagship product of Marseille.
